Following the success of the New Orleans Worlds Fair Tree Dome project, Kent Bloomer created three smaller adaptations of the original scheme for private clients. All three have the large cleft leaves of the Tree Domes, bolted to curvilinear aluminum stems.

The Bayou St. John project, built in 1985, was designed for a private residence in New Orleans, overlooking the bayou connecting the Mississippi River with Lake Pontchartrain. The seventeen-foot aluminum trees of Bayou St. John grow from an expansive deck, providing an open-air pavilion for entertaining.

The second iteration was commissioned for the garden of a Covington, Louisiana residence.

The third adaptation, commissioned by the Tramell Crow Corporation in 1987, stands at the garden entrance to the Buschwood Office building in Tampa, Florida. Designed to embellish the glass curtain-wall building, the Buschwood project functions as a shady arbor offering occupants and visitors refuge from the Florida sun. The tree forms “adapt” to their tropical setting by incorporating thin green foliage, inspired by the local vegetation.
