Bloomer Studio designed and built an elegant vaulted trellis for the entrance lobby of the newly renovated Fairhaven Middle School in New Haven, Connecticut (architect: Roth and Moore). Depicting a pattern of geometry which transforms into birds in flight, the vault represents the uplift of education and learning. The soaring seagulls also tie the work to the school’s location near the harbor in Fairhaven.

Fabricated of rolled and hand-hammered aluminum elements bolted to a structure of aluminum ribs, ‘Avian Trellis’ provides students with an inviting and inspiring introduction to their school.
