Bloomer Studio was asked to design and fabricate two ornamented end walls for a garden pavilion on a private estate in Long Island, New York. The completed project incorporates eight operable glass and bronze doors and two 6-foot by 13-foot painted mahogany “tree canopies”. The design, inspired by the site’s natural environment, references the seemingly infinite horizon beyond the property and the client’s extensive collection of old growth trees. Each element of the design, from hardware, to mirror, to wood carving and bronze casting was custom fabricated for the pavilion. Developed in collaboration with the architects of Roger Ferris and Partners the ornament is both contextual and sculptural. Pavilion Walls, Long Island |
