Bloomer Studio was asked to design outdoor cases to display information for cultural events in selected buildings on the Yale Campus.
For the entrance of the University Theatre, the studio designed and fabricated six illuminated display cases. The cases were designed not only to provided program information, but also to establish the theatre as a dramatic presence on York Street and to change the way pedestrians interact with the building. The larger free-standing display units are positioned on axis with Library Walk—connecting the theatre with Dwight Hall. All six bronze and stainless steel cases are illuminated with low voltage MR8 down lighting which require a minimum amount of electricity for a maximum marquee effect.
